Meet your Instructor: John EggertÂ
John was born and raised on a dairy farm in northwestern Wisconsin. Woodworking, mechanics, welding and machine shop work were part of his everyday life. In High School and College he studied in shop classes. He graduated from Concordia College in St.Paul, Minnesota and obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He lived for over 13 years in Papua New Guinea, where he taught theology and did all kinds of maintenance tasks, including running a sawmill and helping to build an airstrip in a remote area. Currently he serves as the pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Portland. He works as a handyman in his spare time. He is always intrigued by something that doesn’t work, trying to figure out how to get it functional.Â
Basic Wiring Class - $195 for 3hrs
Basic Wiring Class
Explore the science behind the electricity running in your house. Including safety, tools and proper installation of outlets and switches. This class is designed to also expose you to the very basic wiring techniques used to wire up any light fixture. You will get hands on as you strip wires and deconstruct lamps to then rewire. You will leave feeling confident that you can fix any light or are ready to start making your own.
Lamp Building Class - $215 For 3hrs
Lamp Building Class
In this class you learn all the basic wiring techniques needed to run electricity into your lamps. You will also get hands on as you spend time building your own one of a kind lamp. You’ll choose from a variety of cool bases and bulbs to create a free standing desk lamp. He has created an easy, fun and enjoyable 3 hr lesson where you will walk away confident you could wire, build and design your own creations. Students are encouraged to bring in your own material. If you have a cool or unique object you’d like to turn into a lamp or rewire please bring it in.
